This quote means that when you become a steady kind person your life will successed and become better than what it is. Everytime you do something kind you become some sort of good person for the person you helped. Not only do you become a good person sometimes they even look up to you. You become some type of role model. If your not at all a good/kind person you wont get anywhere in life but a tale full of lies. Someyimes helping does get you to very good places that is why you should always be kind to everyone.
